How to Prepare for your Tattoo Appointment

Skin Care

About 3-7 days before your appointment, exfoliate the area where you will be getting tattooed. You can use a variety of methods: a body scrub product, washcloth, and other cloths or exfoliants found in the skin care or bathing aisle of many stores.

Please do the necessary research on your own, if you’ve never exfoliated before or have skin sensitivities etc.

Getting all the dead skin cells off will be very helpful for the application of the tattoo to look great after healing. Please avoid sun burns (before and after) as well.

Moisturize your skin daily after showers for at least 1-2 weeks prior to your appointment. The tattoo is inherently damaging your skin as the needle is creating micro tears, so the healthier the skin the better the tattoo will be applied and heal. Great ingredients that moisturize your skin: jojoba oil, shea butter, urea, beeswax products, lotions without alcohol. Drinking water helps too!

If you would like, purchase some pure jojoba oil to use during your tattoo healing, it is an ideal product to use on healing skin. I usually provide an aftercare tattoo salve that is all natural as well.

Feel free to ask any questions!

1 Day before your appointment:

Make sure you are well hydrated, avoid any skin damaging activities such as: tanning bed, sun bathing, burns, scratches, waxing, lasers, etc. Avoid heavy alcohol consumption to ensure you feel your best for your appointment and try not to take any blood thinners if you can avoid it.

Day of your appointment:

Take a shower on the day of or night before your appointment so that your skin is fresh and clean. You are not required to shave the area yourself.

Make sure to eat a meal within 1-2 hours before your appointment and bring water. Avoid any blood thinners such as ibuprofen.

Feel free to bring snacks, beverages, a blanket, headphones, a book, and whatever else you would like during your appointment to feel comfortable.

The location info will be sent to you via email, please let me know if you have not received it 2 days before the appointment.

Lastly, feel free to let me know any specific needs that you may have during your appointment.
